W-1; <br />MEMORANDUM <br />DATE: April 14, 2005 <br />TO: Mike Morrison, City Manager <br />FROM: Roger Larson, Finance Director <br />ITEM: ix TELEI'ILC3NE AGREEMENT WITH ROSF;VILLE <br />This past summer/fall, the City upgraded its phone system. The new telephones use <br />Internet technology and have provided staff with additional telephone capabilities. <br />The improvements the City gained are as follows: <br />1) The phone system now has caller 1.1) for incoming and outgoing calls. <br />2) City hall, Police, Pine, Public Works and both Liquor Stores are networkecl <br />together. We now call each other internally without the use of outside phone <br />lines. <br />3) St. Anthony is now part of a group of Cities (mainly member Cities of <br />Northwest/CTV) who havejoined together to form an Internet Protocol Group <br />developed by the City of Roseville. <br />4) The new I/P phone system eliminated most of our analog telephone lines. The <br />annual cost savings to the St. Anthony is approximately $1.0,065.00 <br />Installation of the phone system is complete and Roseville is requesting member Cities to <br />approve joint power agreements for the services they provide. The base agreements are <br />for networking phone services, the purchase and operation of network computers and all <br />costs related to the Internet Protocol phone system. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff requests Council to authorize the Mayor and City Manager to enter an agreement <br />with the City of Roseville for Internet/telephone services. <br />Note — From a legal perspective, Jerry Gilligan has reviewed the documents, made <br />changes on behalf of the City of St. Anthony and offered his qualified legal opinion <br />supporting the signing of the proposed agreement between the St. Anthony and Roseville. <br />
