GENERAL POLICY BUSINFSS OF'THE COUNCIL. <br />A. Police Chief JohnOhl uresentation <br />i. Swearing in of Officers. <br />Mr. Ohl stated there has been a 25% change in the police department with two new <br />officers, a new sergeant, and a new captain. He introduced and provided a brief <br />background. of newly promoted Sergeant Mangstaff, an 11 -year veteran of the <br />department. He introduced and provided a brief background of newly promoted Captain <br />Antonio, a 19 -year veteran and first :DARE officer of the department. <br />Mr. Ohl introduced and provided a brief background of Mr. South. Mr. South was sworn <br />in. <br />Mr. Ohl introduced and provided a brief background of Mr. Wilson. Mr. Wilson was <br />sworn ill. <br />Mayor Faust congratulated the officers and told them to be safe, be sure, and do their job. <br />IIe added it is important to televise the swearing -ins to show residents the City now has <br />two new officers on duty. Ile thanked the parents for supportively giving their sons. <br />ii. Updates. <br />None. <br />13. North Suburban Cable Commission mnission o esentation. ( faience-Ranallo, Cable Colurnission, <br />rein esentaYiy�n cscntr ng,. <br />Mr. Ranallo stated a cable franchise fee was established throughout the City. He indicated <br />Channels 15 and 16 are for City use and Channel 1.9 is for the school district. Items such as <br />sports games and parades have been televised. Presently 49.2% of St. Anthony residents use <br />cable television. A wi-fi network for internet service for the City was previously discussed; <br />however, cities cannot receive all access fee. City and Staff will be invited for a meeting later <br />this year. Ile stated $3,500 has been raised to wire the high school auditorium, but another <br />$1,500 is still needed. A future item needed is a character generator, which costs about $3,500. <br />He added he would volunteer to host shows but would need two volunteers to ran the cameras. <br />Mayor Faust asked if it was appropriate to put a request for volunteers in the newsletter. Mr. <br />Morrison replied yes. <br />Mayor Faust asked about wiring the school board to cable broadcast. Mr. Ranallo replied the <br />board has been told they can use some of the franchise money and have also suggested they use <br />the City Hall building and equipment. <br />Councihnember Stille asked if 49.2% of residents using cable is a good percentage. He added <br />residents can access free cable, too. Mr. Ranallo replied the newsletter has published numbers <br />on how to get free cable. He added 49.2% is a bit low but with satellite dishes it could increase. <br />K <br />
