City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />March 14, 2006 <br />Page 4 <br />1 VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCILMEMBERS. <br />2 City Manager Mornson reported the following: <br />g <br />3 • At the next Council meeting on March 28 there will be two Planning Commission issues • <br />4 four department head reports; and an update from Three Rivers Park on Silverwood Park. <br />5 • March 30 is League of Minnesota Cities Capital Day. <br />P Y <br />6 • On April 1 there will be a meeting with former elected officials. <br />7 • On April 18, starting at 6:00 p.m., there will be a joint meeting with the Planning <br />8 Conu"nission as well as tabletop exercises to review emergency plans. <br />9 • The 2006 to do list and the 2006 goals were updated. <br />10 • The City received a grant from Hennepin County in the amount of $2,700 for the 2005 <br />11 fall storm. <br />12 e Silver Lake Village redevelopment received an excellence award from the NAIOP. <br />13 0 The City received a letter from a long-term resident and former mayor regarding talented <br />14 police and fire personnel. <br />15 <br />16 Councilmember Horst stated at the end of February he attended a board meeting with the Sister <br />17 City Association where they discussed the sculpture artist's visit and collecting funds. Next, the <br />18 Association will set up the agenda and itinerary for the artists May arrival. <br />19 <br />20 Councilmember Stille stated on February 27 and 28 he participated in an interview committee for <br />21 a new school superintendent, where they interviewed six applicants, and a selection may be made <br />22 tonight. He added on March 13 he attended the joint Park Commission / Council meeting. <br />23 <br />24 Councilmember Thuesen had no report. <br />25 <br />26 Acting Mayor Gray indicated that he attended the North Suburban Communications Commission <br />27 meeting on March 3, and noted a scholarship, sponsored by North Suburban and Comcast is <br />28 available for individuals with a mass communications, journalism, or televisionp roduction field <br />29 of study. He added applications can be obtained at the City office with a deadline of April 14. <br />30 <br />31 VIII. COMMUNITY FORUM.. <br />32 Acting Mayor Gray invited residents to come forward at this time and address the Council on <br />33 items that are not on the regular agenda. <br />34 <br />35 Hearing none, Acting Mayor Gray moved forward with the agenda. <br />36 <br />37 IX. INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS, <br />38 Councilmember Stille noted the Huskies play Concordia tonight and .congratulated the basketball <br />39 team for making it this far. <br />40 <br />41 X. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONAL DOCUMENTS, <br />42 None, <br />43 <br />44 XI. ADJOURNMENT, <br />45 Acting Mayor Gray adjourned the meeting at 8:02 p.m. <br />46 <br />47 Motion carried unanimous) . <br />4 <br />
