Mr. Hubmer said this is not the estimated.cost, but it is the 2 maximum dollar amount the City can accept. 3 4 City Manager Mornson indicated the original estimated cost is $500,000. Highcrest sidewalks 5 are included in the financial strategies plan. This grant came into place this past year just after 6 they passed the financial strategies plan. - This grant will provide the money to pay- for the 7 sidewalk from 33rd to Silver Lake Park on 29th. 8 9 Mayor Faust pointed out this is one of the projects talked about for some time. with the 10 walkable communities workshop from Ramsey County and the Minnesota Department of 11 Transportation's safe routes to school, it appears St. Anthony will be one of the first 1 /1 +,+ 1 1 1 ^ +.• 4.4 h • . • ..4 11 1Z communities to a.o a �teasibility study and first communities to get this grant. 13 14 Councilmember Thuesen personally finds this stretch of sidewalk very important for the 15 community. A strong school system makes a strong community. Getting students safely to and 16 from school is important. With the ever -shrinking dollars in the school system, it is hard to say if 17 transportation will be cut back, but if it is, this becomes a very important project. 18 19 Motion by Councilmember Gray, seconded by Councilmember Thuesen, to approve Resolution 20 06-059; Minnesota Safe Routes to School Grant. 21 Motion carried unanimously. 22 23 E. Update on Various Proj ects. 24 25 Mr. Hubmer updated the Council on various projects in St. Anthony. 26 27 The contractor is nearing completion on all remaining items for the 2005 Street Reconstruction 28 Project. The second lift of asphalt was placed during the week of June 12, 2006. This project is 29 essentially complete with very few minor items outstanding. 30 31 Mr. Hubmer expressed his amazement at the speed in which progress is being made on the 2006 32 Street Reconstruction Project. Mr. Hubmer anticipates the contractor will be laying asphalt by 33 the end of the first week of July. The utility work within the project limits have installed curbs 34 and gutters on most of the streets. Driveways are being put back in and top soil and sod will be 35 laid soon. He anticipates project completion by July 31, 2006. The contractor has done a very 36 good job. 37 38 Final plans and specifications for the Foss Road Lift Station are currently being completed and 39 will be advertised shortly. The completion of the plans and specification, particularly the 40 electrical documentation and architectural design of the building, has taken a little longer than 41 previously anticipated. Mr. Hubmer requests the Council consider amending Resolution 06-03 5 42 from an award date of July 25, 2006 to an award date of August 8, 2006. This will allow the 43. project to begin in August as the original schedule intended. 44 45- Motion by Councilmember Gray, seconded by Councilmember Stille, to amend Resolution 06-- 46 035 from an award date of July 25, 2006 to an award date of August 8, 2006. 47 41
