City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />May 23, 2006 <br />Page 14 <br />1 costs rising, how would the City Council address the issue of taxes going up every year until she <br />2 could not afford to live here. <br />3 <br />4 Mayor Faust suggested if she had questions about the school, to contact them. <br />5 <br />6 Mayor Faust responded by giving Mrs. Orcutt-Baker two options. Mayor Faust informed Mrs. <br />7 Orcutt-Baker the Housing Resource Center allows residents to do home improvements if their <br />8 income is below $87,000. He stated her other option is to take advantage of a tax law in the <br />9 State of Minnesota. If her income were under $60,000, she would only pay 1 % of your real estate <br />10 taxes. He informed Mrs. Orcutt-Baker the City is willing to help if she would come to us. The <br />11 Council heard her concerns and are sensitive to her, on other hand, there are other things the <br />12 Council must do to keep the City in good working order. He recommends she meet with <br />13 someone at City Hall that can give her the adequate answers she needs. <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 IX INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS, <br />17 <br />18 Mayor Faust heard from an individual on Skycroft who appreciates branching from Hennepin <br />19 County to Ramsey County. He reports continually hearing people say they appreciate the ability <br />20 to recycle these items. <br />21 <br />22 Mayor Faust received a note from former Vice President Mondale thanking him for the <br />23 wonderful time with the people from Finland. <br />24 <br />25 Mayor Faust received a thank you from the school for recognizing the girls' softball and boys' <br />26 baseball teams. <br />27 <br />28 City Manager Mornson reminded the City Council of the regular meeting with the school board <br />29 on August 29, 2006 at the school. <br />30 <br />31 Councilmember Horst restated do not forget Village Fest next week. <br />32 <br />33 <br />34 X.
