During the 1990s, the Minnesota State Legislature <br />passed legislation that required municipalities. to do or redo their Comp Plans, with updates to be <br />done every ten years. The City of St. Anthony completed its updated comp plan in 1998. In 2006, <br />the City began planning for the Comprehensive Plan Update it would be required to complete by <br />2008. William Weber, A.I.C.P., McCombs Frank Roos and Associates was selected through an RFP <br />process to facilitate and complete the update project. Staff also advertised for task force members <br />and initially received twelve letters of interest from residents of the community. Also included as <br />members on the task force were Councilmembers Randy Stille and Brian Thuesen; Chair of the <br />Planning Commission, Joel Stromgren and Vice Chair Todd Hanson; ISD 281 Superintendent Rod <br />Thompson; Steve Hobbs, Rice Creek Watershed District and Dan Kalmon, Middle Mississippi <br />Watershed Management Organization. <br />The Task Force first met in May and continued meeting throughout the summer, reviewing land use <br />and development issues within the City, working with Mr. Weber to complete Comp Plan Update. <br />On November 8, the City held an open house, which provided the community, an opportunity to <br />review the proposed draft of Comp Plan Update. <br />The Public Hearing is a formal review of the draft by the public, the Planning Commission and the <br />City Council in preparation of submitting it to the surrounding cities, the school district, the <br />watershed organizations and counties for review and comment. These agencies have up to six <br />months for this review and once that review period has expired, then the City is required to submit <br />the draft Update with comments to the Metropolitan Council for its 120 -day review period. <br />Mr. Weber will be presenting a PowerPoint presentation on the Comp Plan. <br />112106 PH On 2008 Comp Plan.doc <br />W <br />
