St. Anthony Police Department
A.P.D.
- John Ohl • Chief of Police
91ieE
November 20, 2006
Mr. John Bladow
403 11' Avenue NW
Isanti, MN 55040
Dear Mr. Bladow:
On 11-14-06, Officer Dokken of the St. Anthony Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a
vehicle traveling northbound on Silver Lake Road. During the traffic stop, the adult male driver
attempted to flee on foot and entertained a physical confrontation with the officer. The suspect was
able to break free from Officer Dokken and a foot chase ensued. During this chase, you observed
the suspect in question and signaled Officer Dokken by blowing the horn on your garbage track.
You then, at great risk to yourself, began to pursue the suspect on foot in attempts to assist Officer
Dokken with taking him into custody.
According to Officer Dokken, you were almost successful in grabbing and holding the suspect for
police. Your efforts not only alerted police to the suspect's current location, but you also caused the
suspect to change directions and to ultimately be captured by police.
This suspect was arrested for obstructing police with force along with 3 warrants, one of which was
a felony warrant for narcotics.
Your attempts to physically intervene went way beyond what we would expect from a citizen. You
were even slightly injured during this assist. You took a calculated risk to help police and the
neighborhood in which you work. Clearly, you view your occupation as much more than what's
entailed in your job description. Your constant presence in residential areas gives you a unique
opportunity to detect crime and to report suspicious activity to police.
Please accept this letter of appreciation from both the St. Anthony Police Department and the
neighborhoods in which you work. Your efforts were truly worthwhile of recognition.
Sincerely,
Jo Ohl
Chief of Police
St. Anthony Police Department
3301 Silver Lake Road NE • St. Anthony, MN 55418 • (612) 782-3350 • FAX (612) 782-3390
4
