ANTHONY <br />C1TY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINU'T'ES <br />JANUARY 9, 2007 <br />CALL TO ORDER. <br />Mayor Faust called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br />9 PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. <br />10 Mayor Faust invited the Council and audience to join him in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />11 <br />12 ROLL CALL. <br />13 Present: Mayor Faust; Councilmembers Gray, Hoist, Stille, and Thuesen. <br />14 Absent: None. <br />15 Also Present: City Manager Mike Mornson <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 CONSIDERATION, DISCUSSION, AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON ALL OF THE FOLI.,OWING <br />19 ITEMS. <br />20 <br />21 1. APPROVAL OF JANUARY 9, 2007 CITY COUNCIL MEETING AGENDA. <br />22 Motion by Councilmember Horst, seconded by Councilmember Stille, to approve the City <br />23 Council Meeting Agenda of January 9, 2007. <br />24 <br />25 Motion carried unanimously. <br />26 <br />27 II. PROCLAMATIONS AND RECOGNi1'IONS. <br />28 A. Recognition of the St. Anthony -New Brighton School District #282 and their <br />29 achievement of the Five Star Award from the Minnesota Department of Education. <br />30 <br />31 Mayor Faust introduced Mr. Thomas Keith, St. Anthony Village High School Principle. Mr. <br />32 Keith stated St. Anthony Village High School has long prided itself in on its academic <br />33 achievements. Ile reported St. Anthony Village High School has been featured in Newsweek as <br />34 one of the top 'five percent schools in the country. He stated Senator Dayton presented St. <br />35 Anthony Village High School with the Minnesota Schools of Excellence Awards. Mr. Keith <br />36 mentioned that as part of the Minnesota accountability program St. Anthony Village High School <br />37 has been a Double Five Star IIigh School for the past three years; an award based upon math and <br />38 reading tests. He stated that typically about 12 to 13 high schools throughout the state earn the <br />39 double five star rating; only five have earned the double five star rating for the previous 2 years. <br />40 Mr. Keith stated he is thrilled the students of St. Anthony Village High School continue to <br />41 perform at such an extraordinarily high level. He indicated this is due in part to the tremendous <br />42 support from the community, a superb staff, and students committed to academic excellence. <br />43 <br />44 Mr. Keith introduced Thuy-Vy Bui, Student Body President. He stated she has applied to and <br />45 has been accepted at four colleges. He stated she is an extraordinary and motivated leader in the <br />46 school. <br />47 <br />
