City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />May 8, 2007 <br />Page 7 <br />Mayor Faust reported that the Silver Lake Road Open I -louse was very good. I -le commented <br />that Councilmember Gray was there, representative from IIennepin and Ramsey Counties, the <br />State Patrol, Highway Patrol and a representative from the Middle Mississippi Water <br />Management Organization attended. Ile stated it is a good opportunity for residents to see what <br />happens in our community. <br />8 Mayor Faust reported that on May 2, 2007 he attended NW Youth and Family Services <br />9 Leadership Luncheon. He stated this organization saves the community many dollars on <br />10 intervention and prevention services. <br />11 <br />12 Mayor Faust reported that on May 3, 2007 he attended a presentation on pandemics by Dr. <br />13 Osterholm. He stated a work session would be held to look at ways to be prepared in case a <br />14 pandemic did occur. The commented the first line of defense would be ourselves; everyone <br />15 needs to be informed and prepared. Ile mentioned Council and department heads would discuss <br />16 this in detail. He thanked John Malenak for keeping Council up to speed on this topic. <br />17 <br />18 Mayor Faust reported the annual meeting of the Chamber of Commerce. He stated the Chamber <br />19 is looking for new members. He mentioned any individual can join the Chamber for only $30 <br />20 per year. <br />21 <br />22 Mayor Faust stated he attend Cleanup Day on May 5, 2007. He commented that any time you go <br />23 into the Public Works building, unannounced or announced, the building and the equipment is <br />24 always clean. <br />25 <br />26 Mayor Faust reported that on May 8, 2007 he attended the Middle Mississippi Water <br />27 Management Organization Board Meeting. He stated they passed out the Minnesota Green Roof <br />28 Project talked about Ramsey/Washington Metro Watershed District. Ile stated they took a piece <br />29 of land that could not be built on and used it as a demonstration site for green roof gardens, rain <br />30 gardens, porous driveways, and other green projects. <br />31 <br />32 Mayor Faust reported thanked City Engineer I-Iubmer for securing Dave Dahl for the Salo Park <br />33 sculpture dedication event. <br />34 <br />35 VIII. INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS. <br />40 <br />41 Councilmember Thuesen invited the community to attend the St. Anthony Civic Orchestra <br />42 Dessert Concert on May 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Community Center. He stated there would be a <br />43 concert, dessert, prizes, and a silent auction. Tickets are $10.00. <br />44 <br />45 Mayor Faust reminded everyone that Sunday is Mother's Day. <br />7 <br />
