Staff estimates they received more than 50 responses in favor of 15 <br />continuing single -sort, several of which are on file should Council want to review them. <br />Some residents voiced concerns about the possibility of broken glass mixing with paper to be recycled. <br />Staff received one emailed response from a hauler advising that they have not received any complaints <br />from their mills regarding glass shards in the paper. Another hauler verbally indicated that they also have <br />not received any complaints about glass. Other residents commented favorably on the reduction of trips <br />the trucks are making on the City streets; a few also commented on the welcomed reduction in the noise <br />and fuel smell in the air. <br />Action: The City's single -sort recycling pilot program ordinance was approved on September 26, 2006 after the <br />requisite three (3) readings and with a sunset date of December 31, 2007. Therefore, staff is presenting this <br />Ordinance for Council consideration.
