in the same location as the existing sign, and is not prohibited sign under Section <br />1400.07. <br />Subd. 7. 'Temporary Commercial Signs. Commercial signs that do not have a sign <br />surface area in excess of thirty-two (32) square feet and which are erected or displayed <br />for a period of time not to exceed thirty (30) days in any year. Permission of the City <br />Manager must be obtained to erect such signs. If prior permission is not obtained from <br />the City Manager, the sign must be removed immediately. <br />Me. <br />Subd. 8. Construction Signs. Signs denoting the architect, engineer or contractor when <br />placed upon work under construction, provided that the total sign surface area of all such <br />signs does not exceed the greater of twelve (12) square feet or a ratio of one (1) square <br />foot of sign surface per one hundred (100) square feet of floor space in the construction <br />project, up to a maximum of thirty-two (32) square feet. Staff suggests this be in <br />requiring permit signs * <br />Subd. 9. On -Site Temporary Subdivision Signs. One (1) on-site temporary sign <br />advertising a group of lots for sale within a subdivision or group of houses for sale <br />within a housing project, provided that the total area of such sign shall not exceed sixty- <br />four (64) square feet with no single dimension in excess of sixteen (16) feet. The display <br />of such sign shall be limited to a six (6) -month time period. At the expiration of such <br />period, the applicant may request a further extension of time, otherwise the sign must be <br />removed. Staff suggests this be in requiring permit signs * <br />1400.09 Si ng s Requiring Permits <br />Subd. 1 Permits Required. No sign shall be erected, constructed, altered, reconstructed, <br />maintained or moved in the City without first securing a perrnit from the City, other than <br />those described in Section 1400.08. The content of the sign shall not be reviewed or <br />considered in determining whether to approve or deny a sign permit. <br />Subd. 2. Permit Fees. A sign permit fee must be paid in accordance with Section 615. <br />Subd. 3. Application for a Permit. Application for a permit shall be in writing on forms <br />provided by the City and must be accompanied by a sign permit fee. The application <br />shall contain the following information: <br />(1) Names and addresses of the owners of the display structure and property. <br />(2) The address at which any signs are to be erected or modified. <br />(3) The lot, block and addition at which the signs are to be erected and the street on <br />which they are to front. <br />(4) A complete set of plans showing the necessary elevations, distances, dimensions <br />to fully and clearly represent the construction and the placement of the signs, <br />including dimensions of the wall surface of the building to which it is to be <br />attached and linear footage of the right-of-way frontage of the building. <br />12 <br />
