35 <br />Subd. 69. Total Site Signage. The maximum permitted combined area of all freestanding <br />and wall identification signs allowed on a specific property. <br />Subd. 70. Temporary Sian. Any sign, banner, pennant, valance or advertising display <br />constructed with light materials with or without frames intended to be displayed for a <br />limited time only. <br />Subd. 71. Visible. Capable of being seen by a person of normal visual acuity (whether <br />legible or not) without visual aid. <br />Subd. 72. Wall. Any structure which defines the exterior boundaries or courts of a <br />building or structure and which has a slope of sixty (60) degrees or greater with the <br />horizontal plane. <br />Subd. 73. Wall Sign. A flat sign which does not extend more than eighteen (18) inches <br />from the face or wall of the building upon which it is affixed, painted or attached, running <br />parallel for its whole length to the face or wall of the building, and which does not extend <br />beyond the horizontal width of such building. <br />Subd. 74. Window Sign. Any sign, pictures, symbol, or combination thereof, designed <br />to communicate information about an activity, business, commodity, event, sale, or <br />service, that is placed inside a window or upon the window panes or glass and is visible <br />from the exterior of the window. <br />1400.05. Application. <br />Subd. 1. Conformity. No sign may be erected, placed, altered or moved unless in <br />conformity with this Chapter. <br />Subd. 2. Other Code Provisions. Nothing in this Chapter may be taken to relieve any <br />person from complying with the provisions of any other Chapter of the City Code. <br />1400.06. General Requirements, <br />Subd. 1. Sign Permit Not Required. The changing of the advertising message of a <br />painted or printed sign, theater marquee or a changeable copy sign, and the painting, <br />repainting and cleaning of signs will not require a sign permit, but will otherwise be done <br />in compliance with this Chapter and any other applicable law or Section of this Code. <br />Subd. 2. Hazard and Hazardous Signs. No sign may by reason of its location, color, or <br />intensity, create a hazard to the safe and efficient movement of vehicles or pedestrian <br />traffic. No sign may contain words which might be construed as traffic controls, such as <br />"Stop", "Caution", "Warning", or otherwise resemble any official marker erected by a <br />governmental body or agency, unless such sign is a directional sign. Any sign, signal, <br />marking or device which purports to be or is an imitation of or resembles any official <br />traffic control device or railroad sign or signal, or emergency vehicle signal, or which <br />attempts to direct the movement of traffic or which hides from view or interferes with the <br />effectiveness of any official traffic -control device or any railroad sign or signal. <br />
