Resolution 08-070; Accenting 2009 Street and Utility. Improvement Plans and <br />10 Specifications and Ordering_ Advertisement for Bids. Todd Hubmer WSB_ & Associates <br />11 presenting. <br />12 <br />13 Mr. Hubmer reviewed Resolution 08-070 with the Council. He indicated that the proposed <br />14 resolution approves the 2009 Street and Utility Improvement Plans and Specifications and orders <br />15 advertisement for bids. It is anticipated that bids will be received prior to the first City Council <br />16 meeting in December 2008 with the bid results presented in January. <br />17 <br />18 Councihnember Roth questioned when this project was originally scheduled. Mr. Hubmer <br />19 replied this particular segment was originally scheduled for 2014. It was moved up based on <br />20 issues with utilities, including water main breaks. A new draft Capital Improvement Plan for <br />21 street projects has been prepared and will be discussed in detail at the Council work session next <br />22 week. <br />23 <br />24 Councihnember Gray asked if the current economy conditions are a good environment for <br />25 receiving bids on this type of project. Mr. Ilubmer replied that the bidding environment is very <br />26 competitive. There is not a lot of new development going on, and large public infrastructure <br />27 projects are starting to slow down as well. There has also been a dramatic drop in fuel prices and <br />28 oil, which may result in savings in this arca as well. <br />29 <br />30 Motion by Councihnember Gray, seconded by Councihnember'fhuesen, to adopt Resolution 08- <br />31 070, Accepting 2009 Street and Utility Improvement Plans and Specifications and Ordering <br />32 Advertisement Por Bids. <br />33 <br />34 Motion carried unanimously. <br />35 <br />36 B C"it1�ngincer Updatc. lbdd Ilubiner WS13_& Associates_ presenting, <br />37 <br />38 Mr. Iiubmer presented the City Engineer Updatc and answered questions of the Council on the <br />39 following projects: <br />40 <br />41 Silver Lake Road Reconstruction <br />42 The road is paved from 37°i Avenue to St. Anthony Blvd. The project is slated for a grand <br />43 opening celebration on November 14, 2008, <br />44 <br />45 C0111161111elYlbel' Thuescn questioned if there is a point where it does not make sense to lay new <br />46 sod due to cold weather.
