The general <br />purpose of the retreat was two pronged: return to the <br />previous years' vision and reaffirm or change; and, do an <br />environmental scan to assess the current realities and <br />develop needed strategies. The retreat was also to serve <br />as a team building exercise and to examine functional <br />questions. <br />Review of 2oo8 <br />Considerable time and debate was given in 2008 to the <br />task of updating statements about the values, vision, and <br />mission of the City. The group wanted the Core Values to <br />reflect some of the important dynamics of the community <br />that were being acted on for some time. A review of <br />pervious work was conducted on core values, vision, and <br />mission: <br />• Values: <br />o The feel o, f a village *added in 2009 <br />o Community <br />o Communications and feedback <br />o Collaboration <br />o Resident focus from youth to seniors <br />a Safe and secure neighborhoods <br />o Fiscal responsibility <br />o Environmentally Progressive & Responsible <br />o Respect education and diversity <br />o Transparency in actions <br />* Vision <br />"Saint Anthony is a vibrant community that <br />values our unique environment, our fiscal <br />soundness and a tradition of being a desirable <br />city in which to live, work, learn and play." <br />`Unchanged <br />* Mission <br />"Our Mission is to be a progressive and livable <br />community, a walkable Village which is safe <br />and secure." *Unchanged <br />
