In June, officers attended the Salo Park lee Cream <br />Social/Talent Show. In addition, officers attended a <br />Safety Expo, sponsored by Walmart, on the 28'x729"' <br />of June. At both events officers handed out crime <br />prevention materials and showcased police vehicles <br />and equipment. <br />y <br />In June, Chief John Ohl, Captain Dominic <br />Cotroneo, Officers Jeremy Sroga, and Jim <br />South ran a 3 mile leg of the Law <br />Enforcement TORCH Run to benefit <br />Special Olympics. These officers received <br />the torch from another local law <br />enforcement agency and completed the <br />event as a prelude to the start of the Special <br />Olympics. <br />June, July and August were particularly busy <br />months for the Crime Prevention Unit as a lot of <br />planning went into ensuring that events such as, <br />NNO, Villagefest and the I" Annual SK <br />run/walk, sponsored by Fitness Crossroads and <br />Village Pub, went off as planned. A special <br />thanks needs to go the St. Anthony Reserve Unit <br />for donating well over 200+ combined hours, to <br />the City, to ensure that these events were safe for all that attended. <br />Crime Prevention Officers welcomed four Cub Scout groups and one Eagle <br />Scout group to the SAPD, in 2008, for tours of the facility. Officers <br />provided hands on learning in areas of finger printing and evidence <br />collection. They also got an up -close look at the equipment officers' use <br />during the course of their duties. <br />Officers joined with Cub Foods, in September, for a health/ Safety expo. <br />Crime prevention information was provided to the public on a wide range of <br />topics. <br />29 <br />
