17
STAFF REPORT
DATE: May 12, 2009
TO: Mike Momson, City Manager
FROM: John Ohl, Chief of Police
SUBJECT: Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Grant
In the fall of 2008, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, in conjunction with the Minnesota
Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, applied for and received a Community Orientated
Policing Services (COPS) Child Sexual Predator Grant from the Department of Justice. The
COPS Grant funding is for two years and will expire on August 31, 2010.
The goals of the COPS Grant for the next two years are extensive, and include overtime funding
for Minnesota Internet Crimes Against Children affiliated agencies working on COPS Grant
related investigations.
All interested affiliated agencies must have a signed Joint Powers Agreement with the BCA in
order to participate and receive funding from the COPS Grant. I am requesting the City execute
this Joint Powers Agreement in order for our police department to receive the aforementioned
funding.
JO:vj
