City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />July 28, 2009 <br />Page 8 <br />1 ■ July 21 Chamber meeting. Representative Mindy Greiling spoke about the state's budget <br />2 problems. <br />3 ■ July 22 Fiscal Futures Policy Committee. The Committee began work on policies. <br />4 ■ July 28 Metro Cities Municipal Revenue Committee meeting. Mr. Jay Kiedrowski, <br />5 senior fellow at the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, spoke about the $6 billion <br />6 budget deficit as a result of the current deficit not being addressed in each legislative <br />7 session. He stated the City does not receive LGA from the State and feels the City is in a <br />8 good position and will not see significant tax increases in order to maintain City services. <br />9 <br />10 VIII. COMMUNITY FORUM. <br />11 <br />12 Mayor Faust invited residents to come forward at this time and address the Council on items that <br />13 are not on the regular agenda. <br />14 <br />15 Hearing none, Mayor Faust moved forward with the agenda. <br />16 <br />17 IX. INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS. <br />18 <br />19 Mayor Faust stated that Pratt Homes and the Silver Lake Cooperative will be holding another <br />20 open house for their co-ops. <br />21 <br />22 Mayor Faust reminded residents of "Night to Unite" on Tuesday, August 4"i. <br />23 <br />24 Mayor Faust announced the Chamber's golf tournament on Friday, July 31s`. <br />25 <br />26 Mayor Faust reminded residents of Villagefest this weekend, with the parade on Friday night and <br />27 festivities on Saturday. <br />28 <br />29 Councilmember Stille reminded residents of the Kiwanis pancake breakfast on Sunday. <br />30 <br />31 Mayor Faust presented the "City of Excellence" award received by the City from the League for <br />32 a city with a population between 5,000 and 20,000. He congratulated the City and its staff on <br />33 receiving this award and noted the competition is rather keen for these awards. <br />34 <br />35 X.
