Foreword
Junior Achievement Inc. is a not-for-profit organization financed by businesses, foundations, and individuals. The
purpose of Junior Achievement is to educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise, business, and
economics to improve the quality of their lives. Since its founding in 1919, Junior Achievement has contributed to the
business and economics education of young people in the United States and throughout the world.
The Elementary School Program is an economics and business curriculum for students in kindergarten through
grade five.
Ourselves introduces the economic role of individuals.
Our Families discusses the role of families in the local economy,
Our Community examines the responsibilities and opportunities available to those within a community.
Our City considers economic development, local businesses, and career opportunities.
Our Region features economic and business resources in state and regional economies.
Our Nation studies business operations and economic issues in the United States.
JA Enterprise Village demonstrates the free enterprise system through classroom instruction and active
participation in a simulated community.
All Junior Achievement programs are tested in classrooms and updated in response to comments from teachers,
students, and volunteers. Each program is evaluated by an independent research firm. The results of these
evaluations are used to revise and improve the instructional materials.
For more information on The Elementary School Program, as well as JA programs for middle grade and high school
students, find JA online at wwwja.org.
Junior Achievement Inc.
One Education Way
Colorado Springs, CO 80906
http://www.ja.org
