City Council Regular Meeting Minutes
February 9, 2010
Page 3
Councilmember Stille noted the initial lease term is 5 years with five, 5 -year automatic renewal
terms. He questioned if this is typical for lease terms. City Manager Morrison responded in the
affirmative. He noted that revenue from the Sprint Lease currently goes into the General Fund.
The 2011 budget discussion will include discussion on whether to allocate the revenue from the
Clearwire Lease to the General Fund or the Capital Budget.
Mayor Pro Tem Roth questioned who will be responsible for relocating the antenna if the water
tower needs to be repainted prior to the end of the 30 -year lease commitment, or if the structure
can stay in place if the tower needs to be repainted within that time period. City Manager
Morrison replied that his understanding is that the antenna would be able to stay in place;
however, if the antenna needs to be relocated Clearwire would be responsible. He clarified that
this is not a 30 -year term; it is a 5 -year term with five 5 -year renewals.

Motion by Councilmember Gray, seconded by Councilmember Stille, to approve Resolution 10-
020; Approving Installation of a Telecommunications Facility on the City's Water Tank Located
at 3109 — 33rd Avenue.

Councilmember Stille point out that the City has guided these antennas to one location as much
as possible. They are located on the City water tower, on the structure at Kensington, and at this
location. He noted that the value of the $24,000 per year income stream fi•om the lease revenue
is likely worth $350,000, and that there is also an escalator built into the lease.

City Manager Morrison verified that approval of the installation is contingent upon City Engineer
approval.

Motion carried unanimously.

B.
