Morrison, City Manager
From: Barb Suciu, City Clerk
Date: April 13, 2010
Subject: Ordinance Amendment — Political Signs
Background:
Recently the State Legislature passed a bill to move the State Primary from the second Tuesday in September to
the second Tuesday in August. Because of this change there are several other amendments to current election
laws. One change that is directly affecting our ordinance is the placement of political signs. Current language in
section 155.23 (F) indicates that signs can be placed from August 1 in the state general election year. This
language needs to be amended to 46 days before the state primary to correspond with the new date of the primary
election.
Attachments:
• Ordinance 10-001; Amending Ordinance 155.23; Signs Requiring No Permits.
Staff political signs
