City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />June 14, 2011 <br />Page 4 <br />1 • The City of Newport is in the process of developing a ten acre parcel of land on Highway <br />2 61 and recently toured Silver Lake Village. <br />3 • He participated in a ride -along with Officer Spiess last week. <br />4 • Attendance at the Ramsey County quarterly administrator's meeting where the focus was <br />5 on the impacts of the potential State government shutdown. <br />6 • New Police Department summer program on June 15-16 called "Summer Survival <br />7 School" for students who have just finished 3`d grade. The program will focus on safety <br />8 and 26 students have signed up for the program being led by Officer South. <br />9 <br />10 Councilmember Gray reported on his attendance at the following: <br />11 • May 31 joint meeting with the School Board, including a tour of the high school <br />12 remodeling. <br />13 • June 2 meeting with former elected officials which included a presentation of 2011 goals. <br />14 • June 4 open house at City Hall and Coffee with the Mayor and City Council. <br />15 <br />16 Councilmember Jenson reported on his attendance at the following: <br />17 • June 2 meeting with former elected officials. <br />18 • June 4 open house at City Hall and Coffee with the Mayor and City Council. <br />19 <br />20 Councilmember Roth reported on his attendance at the three meetings mentioned by <br />21 Councilmember Gray. He expressed thanks to the former elected officials who attended the June <br />22 2nd meeting. <br />23 <br />24 Councilmember Stille reported on his attendance at the three meetings mentioned by <br />25 Councilmember Gray and noted that there was also a worksession following the joint meeting <br />26 with the School Board. <br />27 <br />28 Mayor Faust reported on the following: <br />29 • May 31 joint meeting with the School Board, including a tour of the high school <br />30 remodeling. He encouraged residents to tour the high school's recent remodeling project <br />31 and stated that residents will be gratified to see where their tax dollars have been spent. <br />32 • June 2 meeting with former elected officials. <br />33 • June 4 open house at City Hall and Coffee with the Mayor and City Council. <br />34 • June 2 Grand Opening of II IOP. <br />35 • June 3 final meeting regarding future of the League. <br />36 • June 7 "View of the Big River" sponsored by MWMO on Boom Island. Several elected <br />37 officials attended including Rep. Ellison, Sen. Franken, and a representative from the <br />38 National Park Service. <br />39 • June 9 presentation to Senior Citizen Volunteer Group hosted by Community Services. <br />40 <br />41 VIII. COMMUNITY FORUM. <br />42 <br />43 Mayor Faust invited residents to come forward at this time and address the Council on items that <br />44 are not on the regular agenda. <br />45 <br />V <br />
