34
July 20"', 2011
Mayor Faust and City Council members:
It is with regret that I inform you of my resignation as City Manager for the City of Saint
Anthony effective August 19, 2011. I will take vacation from August 10th through August
19`h, 2011. On July 19°1 I was formally offered, and subsequently accepted, the position
of City Manager of Hopkins.
My tenure with Saint Anthony began in 1994. Speaking for only myself, I can tell you
that it has been an exciting run. My first council meeting consisted of property owners
voicing issues about their assessed values, what to do about city hall, the old Parkview
building and if Apache Plaza ever had a chance of survival due to the proximity of
Rosedale.
Since that first meeting, people are still voicing their concerns about their assessed
values, Apache Plaza is now Silver Lake Village and we have built a new city hall, fire
station, public works building and three new liquor stores. We also closed two restaurants
down, and we've dealt with flooding issues, including the most recent event on July 16,
2011.
The one thing that I am most proud of is the team that makes up city hall, the Mayors, the
City Councils and coworkers. All of them have cared deeply about this community. You
are all exceptional people. Together, you are an exceptional team. I'll miss all of you.
Saint Anthony gave me a break in 1994 when they hired me as their City Manager, That
City Council, consisting of Mayor Clarence Ranallo, George Wagner, George Marks,
Dorothy Fleming and Richard Enrooth took a chance on me. I hope they think their risk
was rewarded. I am very grateful to them for giving me an opportunity to work in Saint
Anthony.
Saint Anthony has been great to me. I`ve enjoyed my job, the people I work with and the
people I worked for. Thank you for everything.
Respectftilly submitted,
io
Michael Morrison
