CITY OF ST. ANTHONY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION 11-069 <br />RESOLUTION TO APPROVE A REQUEST TO KEEP <br />CHICKENS IN AN R-1 'ZONING DISTRICT <br />WHEREAS, Staff received a request for information from Ms. Kay Steffenson, 2816 <br />Coolidge Street NE, about whether or not the City allows chickens in the <br />residential zoning district; and <br />WHEREAS, The City of St. Anthony Code of Ordinances, Section 91.56,Keeping of <br />Certain Animals, specifies that livestock, including chickens, require <br />approval from the City Council; and <br />WHEREAS, Ms. Steffenson has submitted a written request for approval from the City <br />Council, as outlined in Subsection 91.56, to approve her request to keep <br />chickens; and <br />WHEREAS, Ms. Steffenson also stated that she has spoken with her neighbors and <br />advised Staff that they are not opposed to her family keeping chickens; and <br />WHEREAS, Ms. Steffenson described the enclosure that will house the chickens and that <br />it will be kept in the fenced back yard; and <br />WHEREAS, Hennepin County Environmental Health Division has stated that this matter <br />is within the City's jurisdiction and authority; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of St. Anthony has completed its <br />consideration of the request for approval to keep no more than three (3) <br />female chickens in an R-1 Zoning District and do hereby approve this <br />request from Ms. Kay Steffenson, dated October 25, 2011. <br />Adopted this 25th day of October, 2011. <br />ATTEST: <br />City Clerk <br />Reviewed for administration: <br />Mayor <br />Interim City Manager <br />reffiel <br />WAD <br />
