Minnesota State Statutes require that any land use or zoning applications, such as yours, be approved or denied by the City Council within 60 days of receipt of a completed application. According the 60 -Day Rule, the City has 60 calendar days to take action on your request. The 60 days for your request expire on November 25, 2011. The City's process for considering your variance request includes a public hearing at the Planning Commission meeting scheduled for October 1.8, 2011. The Planning Commission recommendations will then be presented to the City Council at their meeting scheduled for October 25, 2011 at 7:00pm. While the City Council is expected to make a decision on your application at the above-mentioned meeting, Minnesota Statute does allow the City to request in writing, an additional 60 days should it become apparent that the original 60 days are not sufficient to process your application. Nothing is anticipated at this time that would cause a delay, but again, you will be notified in writing if additional time to issue a final decision on your request is needed by the City. Your presence or that of a representative is required at both meetings.
