29
11
Ila 1`E-A?kESTFO7 00kNC/L-CONS/QE7R,4TION
Report Date: September 11, 2012
Meeting Date: September 11, 2012
ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Ordinance 2012-07; Adding Chapter 150.020; Electrical Requirements and Chapter 33.061; Fee
Number 20 of the City Code
REVIEW:
Minnesota State Statutes govern electrical procedures and practices. Currently, the City of St.
Anthony has the State of Minnesota process all electrical permits and conduct all the
inspections. With the addition of this ordinance, the City of St. Anthony will undertake the
electrical permits. This will allow the City to be more of a "one stop shop" and portray a
more user friendly process for the residents, contractors and inspectors. The City will
contract services with a qualified Electrical Inspector to perform the required inspections.
The second part of the ordinance amendment is the fee schedule that needs to be
implemented. The City will retain a percentage of the fee that is currently going directly to
the State of Minnesota.
