REPORTS FROM COMMISSION AND STAFF. <br />9 <br />10 None. <br />11 <br />12 VI. GENERAL BUSINESS OF COUNCIL. <br />13 <br />14 A. Sustainability Workshops Recap Presentation. Dave Wanberg is presenting. <br />15 <br />16 Mr. Dave Wanberg, Adjunct Professor, University of Minnesota, provided a recap of the <br />17 Sustainability Workshops held in October and November of 2012 in collaboration between the <br />18 Cities of Falcon Heights and Lauderdale. He noted the University of Minnesota was also a <br />19 major player in the success of these workshops. He thanked the Council for the opportunity to <br />20 appear at tonight's evening and indicated this exercise was very helpful to the students. <br />21 <br />22 Mr. Wanberg provided a Power Point presentation on the St. Anthony Village Sustainability <br />23 Action Plan. The slides contained Action Plan Outline, Definition of Sustainability and four <br />24 Sustainability Principles, Current Accomplishments, the Planning Process, and St. Anthony Plan <br />25 for Sustainability. The Next Steps were reviewed including strategies for Transportation, <br />26 Utilities — Energy, Utilities — Waste, Utilities — Organic Waste, Natural Resources — <br />27 Landscaping, Natural Resources — Surface Water Management, Local Foods, Housing, <br />28 Neighborhood Development. <br />29 <br />30 Mr. Dave Wanberg concluded with the following summary: <br />31 • Community involvement is paramount to increased sustainability actions. <br />32 • Creativity and enthusiasm are a must. <br />33 • All of these goals are obtainable through cooperation, collaboration and a proper vision. <br />34 <br />35 The students created a poster and copies have been printed and can be seen at City Hall. <br />36 <br />37 Mayor Faust thanked Mr. Wanberg for his presentation. He mentioned the word "sustainability" <br />38 has been added to the Mission Statement for St. Anthony Village. The report was taken <br />39 seriously and he invited residents to review the study. <br />40 <br />41 City Manager Mark Casey provided a report on the Community Forum to which approximately <br />42 30 residents attended. He stated this meeting is one piece in the "overall pie" and community <br />43 support will make this work. It was noted that monthly meetings will be held on Saturdays. <br />44 <br />45 Councilmember Jenson asked what was the takeaway for students. Mr. Wanberg stated the <br />46 students preferred this type of learning rather than spending time in classrooms with books. It <br />
