City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />September 24, 2013 <br />Page 3 <br />regarding expansion of the sales tax to services and warehousing. She then distributed the <br />summer/fall 2013 Metro Cities newsletter. <br />4 Mayor Faust felt it was important for residents to understand how important the Metro Cities <br />5 membership means to the City and advised that Metro Cities worked to secure millions of dollars <br />6 from the DNR to assist the City in resolving flooding issues and this is certainly an example of <br />7 the City's return on investment for the dues it pays to Metro Cities. He also thanked Ms. <br />8 Nauman for her efforts four years ago on the I&I issue and explained that the City invested a lot <br />9 of money and over the last three years has recouped approximately $300,0004400,000 from the <br />10 I&I funding through Met Council. Ile stated that the last time the City received LGA was in <br />11 2002 and will now receive LGA in 2014 that will help the overall community. He indicated that <br />12 the City will be discussing the Thrive MSP 2040 project with Met Council including the latest <br />13 population projections for the City. IIe requested Metro Cities' assistance in working with the <br />14 Met Council as it relates to bus service and particularly related to bus shelters in the City. <br />15 <br />16 VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS. <br />17 <br />18 Councilmember Stille reported on his attendance at the September 23"' Planning Commission <br />19 meeting and advised the Planning Commission recommended approval of an Ordinance related <br />20 to solar energy systems that will be considered by the City Council at its next meeting. <br />21 <br />22 Councilmember Gray — no report. <br />23 <br />24 Councilmember Jenson — no report. <br />25 <br />26 Councilmember Roth — noreport. <br />27 <br />28 Mayor Faust reported on the September 14°i Touch a Truck event sponsored by the Chamber of <br />29 Commerce. He thanked all the City staff that assisted with this event. IIe also reported on his <br />30 attendance at the September 17°i ribbon cutting ceremony for Midwest Podiatry. <br />31 <br />32 VIII. COMMUNITY FORUM. <br />33 <br />34 Mayor Faust invited residents to come forward at this time and address the Council on items that <br />35 are not on the regular agenda. Hearing none, Mayor Faust moved forward with the agenda. <br />36 <br />37 IX. INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS - NONE. <br />38 <br />39 X.
