He <br />presented the 2012-2013 service summary and advised that 29 St. Anthony households received <br />services in 2012. He also discussed current trends including increased mental health issues, <br />achievement gaps, the ripple effect of the recession, and an aging population. Ile stated they are <br />also revisiting the current models to make sure programs are effective given the limited dollars <br />available. He advised that NYFS was recently awarded a contract for diversion services in <br />Ramsey County and they are also working with an organization that offers services for seniors, <br />including mental health services for seniors. He stated that NYFS partnerships include fifteen <br />communities, nine school districts, as well as the faith community and they are working hard to <br />reach out to businesses. He expressed appreciation for the City's continued support. <br />Mayor Faust stated the City has provided support to NYFS since the beginning and would <br />continue to support the organization as much as possible. He encouraged Mr. Hromatka to <br />contact the City Manager if there is some way the City can support the organization in terms of <br />visibility and increased awareness of NYFS programs. He expressed the City Council's thanks <br />to Mr. Hromatka and stated the City looks forward to continuing to work together in the future. <br />VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS. <br />City Manager Casey indicated the City Council previously adopted a resolution in support of a <br />grant application to the Twins Community Fund and was pleased to announce that the City was <br />awarded $16,000, which will be used toward the dugouts and baseball field at Central Park. He <br />reported that on Saturday, January 11 °i, he had the privilege to speak at the one-year anniversary <br />of "Citizens for Sustainability," adding that this is an active, engaged group of residents working <br />with the City on a variety of sustainable initiatives. He stated the group is always looking for <br />people to participate and they meet on the second Saturday of each month at City Hall. <br />Councilmember Roth wished residents a Happy New Year. He reported on his attendance at the <br />Sister City meeting on January 12°'. He stated the next meeting is on March 2" d at 7:00 p.m. at <br />City Hall and they are always looking for volunteers who want to participate. He advised that <br />FinnFest will be held in August and the location has not yet been finalized. He agreed to provide <br />further information including the date of the event when the details are confirmed. <br />Councilmember Stille — no report. <br />Councilmember Gray — no report. <br />Councilmember Jenson reported that the St. Anthony Historical Society is producing a WWII <br />book that should be available in February. <br />Mayor Faust reported on his attendance at the January 13°i Regional Council of Mayors meeting. <br />He stated the Urban Land Institute's advisory board joined the meeting that included a <br />presentation by Professor Bill Melton from the State Board of Economic Advisors. He stated <br />that a representative from Greater MSP will be making a presentation to the City Council in the <br />near future about job growth. He also reported on his attendance at the January 10' MWMO <br />meeting and advised that Minneapolis City Councilmember Kevin Reich was elected Chair and <br />3 <br />
