ANTHONY • CANVASSING BOARD MINUTES RECOUNT OF COUNCILMEMBER ELECTION NOVEMBER 10, 1997 The meeting was called to order at 6:41 PM for the purpose of canvassing the recounted votes cast for the two Councilmember seats up for election at the November 4, 1997 City Election. Present: Canvassing Board Members - Ranallo, Faust, Enrooth, and Wagner Absent: Canvassing Board Member - Marks Also present: Connie Kroeplin, Recount Official Ethel Plasek and Pat Bridgeman, Election Judges/Technical Assistants William Soth, City Attorney Councilmember-elect Brian Thuesen Councilmember-elect Dennis Cavanaugh Brian Rice, Attorney Representing Brian Thuesen The results of the recount were reported by Ms. Kroeplin as follows: Candidate Precinct 1H Precinct 2H Precinct 1R Total Cavanaugh, Dennis M. 525 783 216 1,524 Enrooth, Richard 177 348 97 622 Thuesen, Brian 261 345 90 696 Wagner, George 180 415 97 692 Write Ins Dagen, Anna 1 Dahlberg, Christy 1 Deseter, Bob 1 Gray, Hal 1 None 1 Schlosser, Tom 1 Dunn, Denise 1 Drews, Dave 1 None 1 During the recount, questionable ballots were set aside to be reviewed by Mr. Rice, Mr. Wagner, and Ms. Kroeplin. All such ballots were eventually deemed able to be counted and were put through the tabulator. Two of these ballots were inadvertently not counted on the Summary Sheet. The votes cast for Mr. Cavanaugh in Precinct 1, Hennepin should be 525; the votes cast for Mr. Thuesen in Precinct 1, Hennepin should be 261. This change was noted on the Summary Sheet to be certified to the Counties; is reflected in the counts above; and did not affect the outcome of the election. • Minutes of November 10, 1997 Recount of Votes Cast • at the November 4, 1997 City Election Page 2 Motion by Enrooth, second by Faust to approve and certify the results of the recount of votes cast for two Councilmember seats, as presented by the Recount Official. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Enrooth, second by Wagner to adjourn the meeting at 6:53 PM. Motion carried unanimously.
