RESOLUTION 76-011
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING A STUDY
OF METROPOLITAN SIGNIFICANCE
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Minnesota and various
communities in the Metropolitan Twin City Area are contemplating the construction
of a major sports stadium in the area
and
WHEREAS the Metropolitan Council ha-s been directed by the Legislature
of the State of Minnesota to review all projects which have a Metropolitan Significance
and
WHEREAS the construction and use of a major stadium will have an impact on the
Metropolitan systems of transportation and sewers
and
WHEREAS the use of such a stadium will have certain effects on the
systems, and use and facilities in adjacent communities
and
WHEREAS the proposed locations at the University of Minnesota aid the
Minneapolis Industrial Square site are near the City of St. Anthony and will
therefore effect the land use and facilities of the City of St. Anthony,
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the Council of the City of St. Anthony, Minnesota,
requests that the Metropolitan Council conduct an in depth study of the Metropolitan
Significance of the construction and use of any major sports complex-stadium and
its location on the Metrpolitan Systems and its impact on adjacent municipalities
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent to the
Chairman of the Metrcpolitan Council and to the legislators representing St. Anthony
and to the cities of Roseville, New Brighton and Colum#ig
