RESOLUTION 81-028
A RESOLUTION OF PARTICIPATION IN
CHEMICAL AWARENESS FOR
RESPONSIBLE DECISIONS MONTH
Whereas, the Chemical Abuse Information Committee has
a desire to provide information, education, and awareness
on chemical use/abuse to the community; and
Whereas, Independent School District #282 and the
St. Anthony City Council have empowered this Committee; and
Whereas, the Committee is aware of the value of total
community involvement in this project; and
Whereas , designation of a special month will provide
special opportunities to promote programs to emphasize such
information, education and awareness;
• Now, Therefore, It Is Hereby Resolved, that the City
Council of the City of St. Anthony officially recognizes
the month of October as "Chemical Awareness for Responsible
Decisions" month.
Be It Further Directed, that copies of this Resolution
be provided to the official City newspaper as well as other
local news media.

WORKSHOP
"CHEMICAL AWARENESS FOR RESPONSIBLE DECISIONS"
Sponsored by: St. Anthony Chemical Abuse Information Committee
Rationale:
If chemical use and abuse problems exists it is generally' a total community problem.
Students, parents, and all citizens (-including institutions other than school) must be
knowledgeable and-willing to take positive action to face a complicated and pervasive
problem. Therefore, the Chemical -Abuse Information Committee will sponsor a workshop for
community leaders, program directors or anyone who has responsibilities or opportunities
to provide programs for already established organizations. The workshop will suggest and
provide a variety of program possibilities dealing with "Chemical Awareness for Responsible
Decisions". Persons may pick a program suitable to their groups time frame and personal
makeup. The idea is to bring the program to already existing groups of people.
Goals•
1. To have the City of St. Anthony (through the City Council and mayor) declare
September, 1981 as "Chemical Awareness for Responsible Decisions" month and
have as• many organizations as possible pres_ent'a suitable program on the. topic
during that month.
• 2. To provide an opportunity for organizations to choose suitable programming
for their organization on the topic of Chemical Use/Abuse.
3. To create more community awareness by education for responsible decision and
realistic changes.
Workshop Dates

Participants: -
1. Church personnel such as Chris Ed, director or adult ed programmer or youth
leader, confirmation teacher, parent group, women's group or men's group.
2. Service organization program directors, Kiwanis, Lion's Club, JC's, Mrs, JC's,
3. Senior gitiien group representative, community service and church groups.
4. Any other community groups -(get list from Community Services, .Bi-ennial Ball
mailing list).

We will use a Resouce Center format dividing the group in fourths to attend one
four stations on a revolving basis„ Also tables with information to take home.

Cost will probably be somewhere between $300-500 (could .be less)
