PLANNING. BOARD MINUTES
August 17 ,1976

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Bowerman at 7 :36 P.M.
Present at roll call: Rymarchick, Marks , Bowerman-,_ Cowan.
Absent: Letourneau, Hiebel, Johnson
Also Present: Jim Fornell, Adm. Asst.
Motion by Rymarchick, seconded by Cowan to approve the July 20 , 1976
Planning Board minutes , as submitted.
The adoption of the new zoning ordinance was discussed. Members
requested copies of the ordinance as soon as possible.
Mr. Jack Lawrence of Signcrafters was not present to present his
request for a variance to permit a free-standing sign- at Pizza
Hut, 3901 Stinson Boulevard.
Rymarchick expressed his concern about the unsightliness of
Sroga's Standard Service Station, 3201 Stinson Boulevard, and
felt the City should encourage Mr. Sroga to clean the property up.
• It was noted that when the Planning Board approved the permit for
the service station in 1953 , the members stipulated that the
premises "be kept clean and orderly with no accumulation of old
cars , tin-cans or other debris" .
Mr. Cowan advised that the City should diplomatically advise
Mr. Sroga to tidy up the property.
Motion by Mr. Rymarchick, seconded by Mr.. .Marks to direct the
City staff to contact Mr. Sroga about cleaning up his service
station and surrounding land and to solicit Mr. Sroga' s proposals
for cleaning up and dressing up his station.
Motion carried unanimously.
The Planning Board members suggested that the City Council
investigate the possibility of storing abandoned vehicles at
the Public Works Department yard, room permitting, thereby
reducing the number of vehicles stored at Mr. Sroga' s station
and also collecting the storage and/or disposal fees for the City.
Jim Fornell was directed to research ordinances on group care
houses, family care houses , etc. as a possible amendment to the
zoning ordinance. He is to report back at the September Planning
Board meeting.
Mr. Marks wondered about the status of discussions on the St.
• Anthony Shopping Center. He was informed that Wil Johnson is
most knowledgeable about the latest activities .

i Mr. Bowerman is to represent the Planning Board at the August
24 , 1976 City Council meeting.
Mr. Gordon Hedlund provided the Planning Board members with -
supplemental
ith -supplemental information concerning the public hearing on his
proposed P.U.D. set for August 31st.
Motion by Mr. Cowan, seconded by Mr. Marks to adjourn.
Motion carried unanimously.
