RESOLUTION 16 -032
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE SUBMITTAL OF A HENNEPIN COUNTY
BICYCLE AND SIDEWALK GRANT APPLICATION
WHEREAS, the City of St. Anthony Village (the City) is constructing a Highway Safety
Improvement Project (the Project) for pedestrian safety with intersection
improvements and construction of new sidewalks; and
WHEREAS, the City's mission is to be a progressive and livable community, a walkable
village, which is sustainable, safe and secure; and
WHEREAS, the application to Hennepin County bicycle and sidewalk grant for new sidewalk
on Stinson Boulevard and 37h Avenue is consist with the City's sidewalk plan;
and
WHEREAS, the sidewalk is implementing the findings of a Safe Route to Schools Study; and
WHEREAS, these sidewalks will also allow for safe harbor for commuters who load and
unload on 37`h Avenue; and
WHEREAS, this application will include upgrades to four Hennepin County intersections for
ADA compliance; and
WHEREAS, the City has acquired the necessary ROW and prepared plans and specifications:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of St. Anthony:
1. Authorizes preparation and submittal for the 2016 Hennepin County Bicycle and
Sidewalk Grant Program funding with the necessary matching funds.
2. Maintain these facilities for their useful life.
