CITY OF ST. ANTHONY
COUNCIL MINUTES
10/20/75
• The meeting was called to order by Mayor Miedtke at 4:05 P.M.
Present at roll call : Sauer, Sundland, Miedtke, Stauffer. Haik
arrived at 4: 10 P.M.
Also present: Jerry Dulgar
The mayor and council discussed the possib ility of increasing salaries
for the mayor and council positions for 1976 and future years.
Points discussed included the increased demands on the time of the mayor
in particular and the council to lesser degreee to attend meetings, lobby,
discuss complaints or concerns with residents while at home, etc. All
present felt there were greater demands-.on their time but also felt that
with the citys poor financial condition any raise should be moderate.
The Council also considered a recently completed survey of mayor and
council salaries in the metropolitan area that - indicated that St. Anthony
was somewbat -lower than comparable communites. ,
Following lengthy discussion the following motion was made:
Motion by Mayor Miedtke, seconded by Councilman Sauer to waive the readings
and adopt Ordinance No. 1975-008. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 125
OF THE 1973 CODE OF ORDINANCES BY INCREASING THE COUNCILS SALARY TO
• $2040 or $170 PER MONTH IN 1976 AND 53,000 or $250 PER MONTH IN 1977
AND INCREASING THE MAYOR'S SAIRtY TO $3600 or $300 PER MONTH IN 1976
AND $4,800 or $400 PER MONTH IN 1977.
Motion by Councilman Sauer,to amend the- foregoing motion by changing the
increases as follows: Council 1976 .. 1

$1800 or $150 Mo. $2400 or $200 Mo.
Mayor $3000 or $250 Mo. $4200 or 5350 MO.
Motion failed for lack of a second.
Motion by Councilman Sauer, seconded by Mayor Miedtke to amend the foregoing
motion by establishing salaries for 1976 as follows:
Council $1800 or $150 per mo.
Mayor $3000 or $250 per mo.
Voting on the motion:
Aye: Sauer, Miedtke
Nay: Sundland, Stauffer, Haik
Motion failed.

Motion by Councilman Stauffer, seconded by Mayor Miedtke to amend the
foregoing motion by establishing salaries for 1976 and 1977 as follows:
1976 1977
• Council $1560 or $130 Mo $1800 or $150 per Mo.
Mayor $3000 or $250 Mo. $3600 or $300 per M0.
Voting on the motion:
Aye: Miedtke, Stauffer, Sauer
Nay: Sundland, Haik
Motion carried.
The Council also discussed trying to persuade the post office to use
the title "St. Anthony Village" for mail originating from St. Anthony
Village or going to St. Anthony Village.
Motion by Councilman Sauer,seconded by Councilman Sundland to write
to the appropriate local postal authorities and request that the
postal department designate St. Anthony for postal purposes as
St. Anthony Village-and to give the entire village a separate
zip code number. If we have an appropriate response in time information
regarding this is to be inserted in the November newsletter.
The Council directed the Manager to include the following items on
the next agenda:
1 . Discussion of meeting dates for November & December

Motion by Councilman Sauer, seconded by Councilman Sundland to
adjourn at 5:00 P.M.
