ANTHONY RESOLUTIONO 1-071 A RESOLUTION GRANTING THE CITY OF ST. ANTHONY'S CONSENT FOR THE SUBURBAN HENNEPIN REGIONAL PARK DISTRICT'S ACQUISITION OF THE SALVATION ARMY CAMP PROPERTY WHEREAS, the suburban Hennepin Regional Park District (Park District) desires to acquire the Salvation Army Camp property located in the City of St. Anthony, Minnesota; and WHEREAS, the Salvation Army Camp property's legal description is attached hereto as Exhibit "A"• and WHEREAS, the Park District's statutory duties include the acquisition, development and maintenance of large parks, wildlife sanctuaries, forest and other reservations, and means for public access to ;historic sites and to lakes, rivers, streams and to other natural phenomena; and WHEREAS, the Park District operates seven park reserves, nine regional parks, six regional trail • corridors and two regional special recreational features comprising over 26,000 acres of land located in six counties; and WHEREAS, the Park District's mission is to promote environmental stewardship through recreation and education in a natural resources based park system; and WHEREAS, the Salvation Army desires to sell the camp property to the park District; and WHEREAS, the park District, in the operation of its regional parks, park reserves and other facilities has demonstrated its knowledge and experience in developing, administering and maintaining high quality park facilities; and WHEREAS, the City recognizes the advantages to the public in having the park District acquire and develop a regional park facility in St. Anthony; and WHEREAS, Minn. Stat. Sec. 398.09(b)(1) states that the Park District may not"acquire real estate by purchase or condemnation which is located within the boundaries of an incorporated statutory City or City unless the governing body of such statutory City or City shall have consented thereto by resolution duly adopted." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of St. Anthony that it does • hereby grant to the Park District consent to acquire by purchase the Salvation Army Camp property as described on Exhibit A to this resolution. Parcel 2: The Northeast Quarter of the Northwest Quarter (NE '%4 Ned '/4) of Section 31, Township 30, Range 23, Ramsey County, Minnesota; subject to County Road E and to Silver Lake Road.
