A RESOLUTION APPROVING ELECTRONIC MONUMENT SIGN
AT 3301 SILVER LAKE ROAD FOR(A)FOR A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT, (B) VARIANCE
FOR SIGN HEIGHT, AND (C) VARIANCE FOR COPY SURFACE AREA.
WHEREAS, the St. Anthony Planning Commission held a public hearing on July 20, 2004,
regarding a electronic monument sign(a) for a conditional use permit, (b)
variance for copy surface area.
BE IT RESOLVED, the Planning Commission recommended Council approve said request by the City
of St. Anthony for the electronic sign because the sign height was due to the
incorporation of the city logo, the sign needs to be large enough for visibility
purposes, and the City was limited as to where the sign could be placed with the
obstruction and visibility issues along Silver Lake Road.
The Planning Commission recommended Council approve the Conditional Use
Permit with the following stipulations:
1) Flashing and animation prohibited;
• 2) Hours of operation are limited and shall be between the hours of 6 am
and 10 pm.;
3) Message changeability should be minimum required to accomplish the
purpose of the sign;
4) Sign aesthetics–such as color, size of reader board and sign,
construction materials, and landscaping plan;
5) Consideration should be given to safety and neighborhood;
6) Sign may only be used to promote items of general interest to the
community;
7) And adoption of Policy for Community Bulletin Board Sign.
