A RESOLUTION TO OPPOSE THE GRAND ROUNDS TRAIL SYSTEM MISSING
LINK THROUGH THE CITY OF ST. ANTHONY VILLAGE AS PROPOSED BY THE
MINNEAPOLIS PARK AND RECREATION BOARD
WHEREAS, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board established the Grand Rounds
Trail System which are a parkway system connecting parks, lakes, rivers,
creeks and neighborhoods throughout the City of Minneapolis; and
WHEREAS, the through the development of the Grand Rounds Trail System there has
been"Missing Link" to the system; and
WHEREAS, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board held an Open House on July
1, 2008 at Windom Park to receive comments on the proposed Grand
Rounds Missing Link to which the City of St. Anthony was not notified;
and
WHEREAS, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board held a meeting on September
• 3, 2008. One of the agenda items was the Missing Link of the Grand
Rounds Trail System in which the trail would pass through the City of St.
Anthony on the north side of St. Anthony Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, the City of St. Anthony had not been notified of the Grand Rounds Trail
System and the intent of the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and
have no intent of funding or supporting the Grand Rounds Trail System.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of St. Anthony
hereby opposes the Grand Rounds Trail System Missing Link through the City of St.
Anthony Village as proposed by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board.
