VILLAGE OF ST. ANTHONY
COUNCIL MINUTES
June 2, 1970
The special meeting was called to order by the Mayor at 8:00 o'clock P.M.
The following were present at roll call : Crouse, Emond, Miedtke, Levandowski
Absent: Kukielka
Also present : Village Attorney, Bartel
Village Mgr., John Printon
The Mayor opened the hearing on the suspension of Patrolman Joseph Sturdevant as
requested by Local #57.
Mr. McDonald, Union representative, inquired as to whether the Village Council had
read the letter of particulars from Local #57 president. He was informed that the
Council had been supplied with all of the data pertinent to the hearing held with
the Village Manager. The matter was discussed at length. Mr. McDonald stated
that the offense under discussion was not a suspension type offense in other
cities. He also stated point systems were used by some communities for discipli-
nary action. Mr. Metro, past Union president, felt the suspension was unjust and
that a review board should be set up or a policy system adopted.
The Council discussed the matter both pro and con.
The Village Manager was directed to submit a penalty schedule to the Council with-
in 30 days.
Motion by Councilman Crouse and seconded by Councilman Emond that the Village
Managers suspension of two days against Patrolman Joseph Sturdevant be upheld.
Aye: Miedtke, Crouse, Emond
Nay: Levandowski
Motion carried.
Councilman Crouse introduced Resolution #70-018 and moved its adoption.
RESOLUTION #70-018
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE RESIGNATION
OF COUNCILMAN KUKIELKA
The resolution was duly seconded by Councilman Levandowski.
Councilman Crouse further added the resignation was accepted with regret and re-
quested the Council to forward a plaque to Couhcilman Kukielka for his service to
the community.
Voting on the resolution:
Aye: Miedtke, Crouse, Emond, Levandowski
Nay: None

2-Resolution declared adopted.
The Council set the meeting of June 23, 1970 to decide on a replacement for
Mr. Kukielka and review the Public Safety Report.
Motion by Councilman Crouse and seconded by Councilman Emond the meeting be
adjourned.
