COUNCIL MINUTES
Is WORK SESSION
December 4 , 1979
The meeting was called to order at 6 :10 p.m. by Mayor Haik.
Present: Ranallo, Letourneau, Sauer, Sundland, Haik, Councilman-elect
Marks, and Fornell, City Manager.
The Mayor outlined the issues in regard to the Manager' s salary in-
cluding salary year, performance review and salary adjustment.
After some discussion, a motion was made by Haik, seconded by Sundland
to increase the Manager' s salary two percent, effective December 1,
1979, but to retain the present June 1 - May 31 salary year.
Motion carried unanimously.
Mayor Haik also suggested that the annual performance appraisal begin
about mid-March for a June 1 completion. It was suggested that two
Council members conduct the review, with input from the rest. Council-
man Sundland also wanted to see a less-formal mid-year review.
The Council then discussed work sessions and planning for the first
few months of 1980. The Comprehensive Plan and communications with
residents were discussed at length.
It was agreed that the newly-elected Council members be sworn in
January 2, with a ceremony at the January 8 meeting, also.
The meeting was adjourned at 7 : 20 p.m.
