ANTHONY PLANNING BOARD PUBLIC HEARING .!une 20, 1972 Meeting was called to order at 8:50 P.M. by Chairman Bratland. The following were present: Orville Fratland, Thomas Ondrey, Richard Letourneau. Absent: Carlson, Parriil, Kronk Also ,,Present : harry Lekson /This public hearing was regarding Savings & Loan structure at the south corner of 39th and Silver Lake Road. Presentation by Howard Dahlgren of Midwest Federal Savings & Loan. Mr. Dahlgren and a representative of the architectural firm proposing the structure appeared before the Planning Board with pictures and schematics of building and landscape proposals. Mr. Dahlgren explained that application with the Federal Home Loan Board had been made and approved for another Savings & Loan for the area, that- it would not interfere with present Savings & Loan Associations in the area. lie felt that this building would add to the area, and not cause any substantital traffic increase. lie proposed additional stoplights on Silver Lake Road at 39th Avenue and at Silver Lane. Jim Voight was the architect that appeared. • The building would be a small branch office with five to eight people employed. Two drive in tellers, six inside. A two story construction with tellers on the first floor and community room on the second floor and employees office on the second floor. Mr. Jay 1Ci tzrow stated that this u—u ld cause too much noise from starting and stopping traffic at the corner of 39th & Silver Lake Road. Mrs. Phyllis Haas stated we need a light at 39th & Silver Lake Road and we should not consider any new structures that would add to the traffic problems until we have the light to solve our current traffic problems. Mr. Fred Lavicky of 3920 Macalaster Drive was opposed because of the increased traffic. 0 Mr. Dick Merrill representing the Silver Lake Homeowners Association commented that at a recent meeting of the association the homeowners were opposed to sign at Silver Lane because with the improvemant of Stinson Boulevard and 40th Avenue by Columbia Heights, it would cause increase traffic cutting across Silver Lane. Mrs. Ruth Thompson of 3015 39th Avenue N.E. was opposed because of traffic. Mrs. Chester Nelson of 3916 Macalaster was opposed and stated if we have one commercial building, in five years it will all be commercial. • Mrs. Ruth Thompson was opposed because the streets in the Penrod Area are so badly cracked now, that additional traffic will ruin it completely, they will have to be replaced, and the residents will have to pay. Replat of Lot 1 , Plock 1, Hedlund & Wakiriak Addition plus the South 35 Feet of Lot 8, Block 18, Soo Marie Park. This will make two lots of minimum lot width of 75 feet. b. Sign ordinance discussion regarding location of church signs. c. Pathways d. Donald Kronk t represent Planning Board at the next council meeting. 10. Adjournment
