VILLAGE OF ST. ANTHONY
PLANNING BOARD MINUTES
September 19, 1967
1. The regular meeting of the Planning Board was called to order by Chairman
Howitz at 7:55 P.M. Tuesday September 19, 1967.
2. The following members were present at roll call:
Kronk, Miedtke, HM tz, Harty, Mesenbring.
Absent: Englund
Also Present: Harry Lekson
3. The minutes of the meetings of August 7 and August 15, 1967 were approved
as submitted.
4. Ordinance Variations - none
5. Public Hearings
�a. The Johnson Greenhouse hearing was continued from the last meeting. The
Chairman called on Donald Kronk to give a report on his visit to the area.
• Don made an inspection of all of the buildings on the Johnson property and
stated that he did not see any part of the business operation that would not
be a part of the wholesale florist business. After discussion with the neigh-
bors, Miedtke moved and seconded by Mesenbring to table the request until
such time the board can get an opinionsfrom the Village Attorney as to the
legality of the Johnson business.
Motion Carried.
b. Chairman Howitz gave a brief summary of the recent study made of the
southern section of the Village and also showed some drawings of the proposed
changes along Kenzie Terrace. The comments made by those in attendance
seemed to indicate that they were in favor of the proposed chances in the study.
After discussion Chairman",iowitz closed th{4 part of the meeting at which
time the drawings were placed in the hallway for closer observance.
6. a. Upon motion by Mesenbring seconded by Miedtke, that the request by
Howard Dumphy to rezone the SW corner of 37th and Silver Lake Road be denied.
Voting on the motion:
Aye: Mesenbring, Miedtke, Kronk, Howitz
Nay: Harty
Motion Carried.
b. Upon motion by Miedtke, seconded by Mesenbring, that the request for
rezoning the lot on the S.E. corner of 34th and Stinson Boulevard be denied.
Motion Carried.
! Ic. Upon motion by Mesenbring, seconded by Miedtke, that the rezoning request
by Gordon Hedlund be denied.

d.
2-d. Upon motion by Miedtke, seconded by Harty, to recommend to the Council
that a public hearing be held to rezone all the property east of old Highway
8 and north of Medtronics to 33rd Ave. N.E.
Voting on the motion:
Aye: Mesenbring, Miedtke, Harty
Nay: Kronk, Howitz
Motion Carried.
7. Old Business - none
8. Building permits
a. Upon motion by Harty, seconded by Mesenbring, to recommend to the Council
to hold a public hearing to rezone lots 3 and k block 8, Mounds View Acres,
2nd addition from light industrial to commercial. Royal Auto Corporation would
like to install a coin operated car wash.
Motion Carried.
b. Upon motion by Mesenbring, seconded by Miedtke, to deny the request of
Dean Ferguson to move a house into the Village because of being over 2 stories
highs
Motion Carried.
• 9. Miscellaneous
a. John Wakiriak appeared to divide 2 lots on 36th And Edwards St. but no
action was taken because of non compliance with Ordinance 62.
b/ Walbon did not appear.
' c. Upon motion by Harty, seconded by Kronk, to recommend to the Council that
a variance be granted to allow for the signs requested in the letter pres-
ented by Joe Malat to the Planning Board to be pieced on the Diary Queen.

d. Upon motion by Miedtke, seconded by Kronk, to recommend to the Council
that the State Bank of St. Anthony be given approval to relocate their signs
at the new bank bocation, a planter base to be included with the ground sign.
A description of the signs is given in an attached letter.

10. Upon motion by Miedtke, seconded by Kronk, it was moved to adjourn.
