PLANNING BOARD MEETING
• August 20, 1968
1 . The regular meeting of the Planning Board was called to order by Chairman
Howitz at 7035 P. M. on Tuesday, August 20, 1968.
2. The following were present at roll calls
Mesenbring, Kronk, Miedtke, Howitz, Harty.
Absents Englund
3. The minutes of the meeting of July 16, 1968, and the special meetings of
July 30, and August 6, 1968, were approved as submitted.
4. Public Hearings - None.
5. Ordinance Variations.
a. The request of Mr. A. J. Martin for a 10 ft. front yard variance and
a 2 ft. side yard variance to build a 2 car garage at 3421 Edwards Street N. E.
was discussed. The Board was of the opinion that this would set the garage
too far forward to line up with the other houses in the block. Upon motion
by Miedtke, seconded by Kronk, to recommend to the Council that the request
be denied.
• Motion carried.
b. The request of Mr. Fred Huebner to divide Lot 8 and 9, Block 3, Clark
and Kings Garden Tract (3500 Edwards Street N. E. ) was discussed. Upon motion
by Kronk,. seconded by Mesenbring, that after replating will recommend to the
Council that approval be given to divide this property with a 15 ft. variance
in width on the corner lot.
Motion carried.
c. The request of John Nash at 3548 Harding Street N. E. to build a 2
car garage at the rear of his house requiring a 7 ft. side yard variance was
discussed. Upon motion by Harty, seconded by Kronk, to recommend to the
Council that the 7 ft. side yard variance be approved.
Motion carried.
6. The request by Keith Harstad to rezone Lot 3 and the N 2 of Lot 4, Block
11, Mounds View Acres 2nd Addition from light industrial to multiple dwelling
was discussed. Upon motion by Mesenbring, seconded by Miedtke, to recommend
to the Council that the request be denied.
Motion carried.
7. Old Business - None.
8. Building Permits - None.

9. Miscellaneous.
a. No one appeared on Drive-In signs.
b. The Planning Board discussed the matter of sending out hearing notices
beyond the limits of 100 ft. as listed in Ordinance 66, Section 9. It was de-
cided that the Board would recommend to the Council that a hearing notice be
sent beyond the 100 ft. boundery when they deemed it necessary.
c. The Planning Board reviewed the letter sent to them by H. S. Swan re-
garding the Sign Ordinance but took no action on the matter.
d. Robert Dailey, Park Board Chairman, presented plans for the proposed
Central Park Shelter building. The Board thanked Mr. Bailey for his coming
to the meeting with this information on the park project.
10. Upon motion by Miedtke, seconded by Harty, it was moved to adjourn.
Motion carried.
