ANTHONY • PLANNING BOARD MEETING October 15, 1968 1 . The regular meeting of the Planning Board was called to order by Chairman Howitz at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 1968• 2. The following were present at roll call : Mesenbring, Kronk, Miedtke, Harty, Howitz, Englund. 3. The minutes of the September 17, 1968 meeting were approved as read. 4. Public Hearings - None. 5. Ordinance Variations . � a. Motion by Harty, seconded by Mesenbring to recommend to the Council that the request by Rodney Billman to build on a 71 .52 ft. lot at 3308 Hilldale Avenue be approved with a 3.48 ft. variance in width of lot. Motion carried. b. After discussion, motion by Miedtke and seconded by Mesenbring, to recommend to the Council that the request to divide the North 1� of Lot 54, • Auditor's Subdivision #365 located at 2618-30th Avenue N. E. be denied. The resulting lots would be 55' X 119' with 6,545 sq. ft. per lot. Motion carried. c. The proposel by Viking Beverages, Inc. to install on a single post the four foot by eight foot commander board sign they now have on a movable stand was discussed. Upon motion by Miedtke, seconded by Mesenbring, to re- commend to the Council that the request be denied because of it being a pylon sign. Motion carried. d. Mike Kubratowicz appeared with a new proposal of a roof sign for Mr. Hobo drive-in. Upon motion by Harty, seconded by Kronk, to recommend to the Council that a 4 ft. 6 in. variance in heighth be approved with the sign 8 foot by 8 foot in size. Voting on the motion. Aye: Mesenbring, Kronk, Harty, Howitz, Englund. Abstain: Miedtke. Motion carried. • No action was taken on the Shopping Center sign. -2- e. 2-e. Benjamin A. Gingold appeared representing Sidney Goodman with plans for an apartment complex three stories high adjacent to St. Anthony Nursing Home. No action was taken pending the disposition of an easement that exists on the property and a recommendation from the Fire Department. 6. Zoning Variations Walter F. Bochnak appeared to request rezoning of Lots 1 , 2 and 3, Block 4, Mounds View Acres, Second Addition. Upon motion by Mesenbring, seconded by Miedtke to recommend to the Council that the request be denied because of spot zoning. Motion carried. 7. Old Business - None. 8. Building Permits. Mr. VanAuken appeared for approval to build a 2 car attached garage at 2804-30th Avenue N. E. No Planning Board approval needed was indicated by the Board. 4: Miscellaneous. a. The Planning Board will hold a public hearing on possible zoning changes of the area East of Kenzie Terrace, North of Lowry Avenue, and West of Wilson Street at the November 19, 1968 meeting. The board requests that notices be sent to the residents on Lowry Avenue on the Minneapolis side. b. Gordon Hedlund appeared and discussed with the board low cost housing or the 36 unit town house complex which he would prefer to build. Upon motion by Miedtke, seconded by Englund, to recommend to the Council that the request for the town house complex be denied. Motion carried. c. St. Anthony Firestone requests approval to replace the pedestal sign which was removed for road construction. Upon motion by Kronk, seconded by Harty, to recommend to the Council that the request be approved. otion carried. 4 me to build a 10' X 20' conservator d. The request by Norman G. !e Y at the rear of 3113 Croft Drive was discussed. The board felt no action was needed for this request. e. Upon motion by Miedtke, seconded by Englund, to recommend to the Council that the final Huebner plat be approved. Motion carried. f. The secretary was asked to invite the managers of the shopping centers and Red Owl to attend the November meeting to discuss traffic flow in the center.
