. VILLAGE OF ST. ANTHONY
PLANNING BOARD MINUTES
October 20, 1970
1. The meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 7:40 o'clock P.M.
2. The following were present at roll call : Herman, Kronk, Ondrey, Carlson,
Bratland.
Absent: Mesenbring, Parrill
3. The minutes of the September 15, 1970 meeting were approved as presented.
4. Public Hearings-None
5. Ordinance Variations
a./Motion by Bratland, seconded by Kronk, to recommend to the Council that the
request by Andrew Gawel for three variances to build a house at 2601 31st
Avenue N.E. be approved as follows :
1 . 24 ft. variance in width of corner lot
2. 4 ft. front yard setback variance
3. 13 ft. rear yard variance
Mgtion carried.
b. Motion by Herman, seconded by Kronk, to recommend that the Council approve
the request by Don Zebro at 4017 Penrod Lane N.E. for a 20 ft. addition
to the rear of his present 2 car attached garage with a false window in
the north wall.
\Motion carried.
6. Zoning Variations
Motion by Kronk, seconded by Bratland, to recommend to the Council that the
request by John Wakiriak to rezone the blest 1/2 of Lot 10, and all of Lot 9,
Block 6, Mounds View Acres, 2nd Addition from R1 and R2 to Commercial be
denied. The location of the above is the Northeast corner of 39th Avenue and
Silver Lake Road. Lot 9 is the corner lot and this eAtends to Penrod Lane.
Two drive-in restaurants are proposed for this area.
Motion carried.

a. Motion by Carlson, seconded by Herman, to recommend to the Council that
the request by Happys Potato Chips, Inc. to replat Lot 1 , Block 9, Mounds
View Acres, 2nd Addition, vacated Valley View Drive adjacent and Outlot A
Happy's Industrial into Lots 1 and 2, Block 1, Happy's Industrial 3.
Motion carried.

b. Motion by Bratland, seconded by Herman, to recommend to the Council that
the request to paint a sign on the north and west walls of the G & K
building to identify the St. Anthony Shopping Center be denied. Section
1015.03, sub. 2, item 6 of the sign ordinance prohibits this type of sign.
Motion carried.
c. Motion by Bratland, seconded by Herman, to table the Industrial Credit sign.
Motion carried.
d. Discussion on the sign ordinance continued until the November meeting.
e. Motion by Bratland, seconded by Herman, to recommend Council approve the
searchlight request by Sveden House for their opening celebration October
22, 23 and 24.
Motion carried.
10. Motion by Bratland, seconded by Herman to adjourn.
