ANTHONY VILLAGE STATE OF MINNESOTA RESOLUTION 20-051 RESOLUTION AMENDING COMMUNITY CENTER LEASE WITH THE ST. ANTHONY-NEW BRIGHTON SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR FUNDS TO BE DIRECTED TOWARD THE COMMUNITY STADIUM PROJECT AND TILING OF C2 & C3 BALLFIELDS WHEREAS, The St. Anthony -New Brighton School District #282 is requesting financial assistance with the construction of a Community Stadium project that would replace natural grass with artificial turf on the existing football/soccer field and replace the pea gravel track with asphalt and the tiling of C2 & C3 ballfields; and WHEREAS, St. Anthony City council recognizes the benefits to the entire conununity by expansion of outdoor recreational facilities WHEREAS, the St. Anthony Village City Council wishes to provide financial assistance by amending the current Community Center lease between the City and School District: and WHEREAS, the current Community Center lease requires annual payments to the city of $127,300, increasing to annual payments of $159,730 beginning in 2022 and continuing until the lease expiration in 2026. This lease is hereby amended as follows: o The lease expiration date is extended from 2026 to 2029 o Annual rent will remain at $127,300 for the duration of the lease, and will not increase to $159,730 in 2022 as required in the existing lease, resulting in an annual difference of $32,430 over an 8-year period (2022-2029) WHEREAS, The aggregate lease payment reductions total $259,440 over the 8-year period, allowing the school district to allocate this amount to the costs the Community Stadium turf and tiling of C2 & C3 ballfields projects; and WHEREAS, the City of St. Anthony contributions towards the Community Stadium turf and tiling of C2 & C3 ballfields projects are contingent on the school district approving the final project and awarding a contract for 100% of the proposed improvements at an estimated cost of $2,716,000; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of St. Anthony Village approve amending the Community Center lease with the school district to contribute $259,440 towards the Community Stadium turf and tiling of C2 & C3 ballfields projects.
