A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE
CITY OF ST ANTHONY VILLAGE GRANT APPLICATION SUBMITTAL FOR THE
2022/2023 MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE PROGRAM
WHEREAS, $3.5 million in Active Transportation funding is available, with a minimum of $50,000 and
cap of $500,000 for each project:
WHEREAS, Active Transportation Program funds can be used to reimburse construction costs on Active
Transportation eligible items, and construction costs above the Active Transportation grant
award will need to have alternate funding sources:
WHEREAS, the project is located on St Anthony Blvd between Ridgway Pkwy and Minneapolis Diagonal
Trail, which currently presents safety hazards for people walking or biking:
WHEREAS, the project will address safety hazards and boost health benefits by providing an off-street
trail separated from motor vehicle traffic and an updated sidewalk:
WHEREAS, the project is identified in both the 2009 and 2019 Grand Rounds Missing Link Master Plans
and the St. Anthony 2040 Comprehensive Plan:
WHEREAS, the project will benefit people walking and biking across multiple agencies including the City
of St Anthony Village, the City of Minneapolis, and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation
Board Grand Rounds Scenic Byway:
WHEREAS, the project is anticipated to be constructed in 2023 and the cost estimate for the construction
of the project is $418,675:
WHEREAS, this trail segment completes a key portion of Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway Missing

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of St. Anthony Village that:
1. The City Council supports the construction of the project and agrees to maintain such
improvements.
2. The City Council supports submittal of the Active Transportation application.
3. The City of St Anthony Village assures that the City will pay all costs associated with the project
beyond the Active Transportation program grant award.
