RESOLUTION 25-031
A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE A REQUEST TO KEEP SIX (6) FEMALE CHICKENS IN AN
R-1 ZONING DISTRICT AT 2412 27TH AVE NE
WHEREAS, staff received a request from the residents at 2412 2711 Avenue NE for permission to
keep chickens on their residential property; and
WHEREAS, the City of St. Anthony Code of Ordinances, Section 91.56, Keeping of Certain
Animals, specifies that livestock, including fowl, require approval from the City
Council; and
WHEREAS, the applicants have submitted a description of the placement and construction of
the enclosure that will house the chickens in relation to their property; and
WHEREAS, the City's ordinance requires that such accessory buildings (primarily the chicken
coop) are constructed to be consistent in color with the principal structure; and
WHEREAS, subject to the conditions listed below, the proposal appears to meet the city's
requirements for such buildings, and will not create negative impacts to public health,
safety, and welfare;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of St. Anthony Village
approves the request to keep six (6) female chickens in an R-1 Zoning District at 2412 2711 Avenue
NE, subject to the following conditions:
A. The applicant shall verify that the facility is no closer than five (5) feet to the
neighboring property line.
B. The applicant shall paint the coop structure to a color consistent with that of the
principal residence.
APPROVED in the regular session of the City Council on 22" a of April, 2025.
