MINUTES <br />SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />i~ <br />u <br />I <br />DECEMBER 29, 1977 <br />A special council meeting of the City of Falcon Heights <br />was called to order by Mayor Warkentien at 8:00 p,m. <br />Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Black, McGough, Steele <br />and Labalestra. Also present was Clerk Administrator <br />Barnes. <br />None. <br />George W. Plant, 1861 Moore Avenue, representative <br />from the committee for the lighted ball fields which <br />are proposed north of Larpenteur and east of Cleveland <br />appeared before council to inform them that Mr. James <br />Duffy, 1961 Summer Street had attended a meeting with <br />the University on December 8th to discuss the installa- <br />tion. He related it was a concern of his as the lighting <br />would create an adverse effect on the residential area of <br />Falcon Woods area. <br />The University requested they file a position state- <br />ment before any further consideration would be taken. <br />Mr. George Plant mentioned a site west of Cleveland and <br />north of the Gibbs Museum is also being considered. <br />The installation would include ten tennis courts and (4) <br />four softball fields. The next meeting is to be held on <br />January 19, 1977, at which time Mr. Plant intends on <br />having a position statement to present. <br />134 <br />PRESENT <br />ABSENT <br />UNIVERSITY <br />LIGHTED BALL <br />FIELDS <br />Councilman Steele suggested we work with them in a positive <br />manner and suggest guide lines as to the utilization of the ~ <br />recreation area. <br />Councilman McGough moved, seconded by Councilman CONSENT AGENDA <br />Labalestra to approve the consent agenda as follows: <br />1. Fire and Rescue Reports 117 and 118 <br />2. General Payroll in the amount of: $3,883.87 <br />3. Liquor Payroll in the amount of: $1,882.56 <br />4. General Disbursements in the amount of $5,262.47 <br />5. Liquor Disbursements in the amount of $5,612.83 <br /> <br />Upon a vote being taken, the following voted "aye": Mayor <br />Warkentien, Councilmen Black, McGough, Steele and <br />Labalestra. The following voted "nay": None. Motion <br />carried. <br />
