MEETING OF MARCH 12, 1970 <br />2968 <br />The regular meeting of March 12, 1970 was called to order at 7:10 P.M. with the <br />following members present: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen Ecklund and Stone. Also <br />present were Treasurer Olsen and Engineer Lemberg. Attorney Seed ar~.ved at 7:35 P.M. <br />Minutes: Stone moved that the minutes of the meeting of February 26, <br />1970 be approved as written. Ecklund seconded and motion <br />carried. <br />Resignation of Warkentien moved the Council accept the resignation of <br />Harold C. Nilsen: Harold C. Nilsen, member of the Falcon Heights Human Rights <br />Commission, as time limitations do not allow him to continue <br />his services. Ecklund seconded and motion carried. <br />St. Anthony Park Village maintenance man attended a meeting at the St. Anthony <br />Hockey Rink Park Village, with the recreation director, to discuss up- <br />Report: keep of skating rinks. St. Anthony Village has two hockey <br />rinks and three pleasure rinks. No pleasure skating is al- <br />lowed on hockey rinks. They have a shaver with one blade <br />about six feet long and shave the rinks about 1/8 inch be- <br />fore each flooding which is almost every day. They have <br />five full time men to care for the rinks. <br />Sewer Seminar Ken Quarn, Village maintenance man attended the Sewer Sem- <br />Report: roar held at the Ambassador Motel on March 10 and 11, 1970. <br />A panel of five from American Pipe Services conducted the <br />meeting. About 250 persons attended. The discussions were <br />on maintenance and repair of existing sewer lines and they <br />showed methods of cleaning. Mr. Quarn reported that the <br />opinions of people attending was that the televising of the <br />sewer lines was a very good idea because you could always <br />readily see what condition the pipes are in. The machinery <br />now will grout cracks and holes from inside to eliminate <br />digging out the pipe lines. <br />Curfew Ordinance - Ecklund moved that a uniform curfew ordinance be adopted <br />No. 100: by the Village of Falcon Heights and repealing ordinance <br />No. ~2. Seconded by Stone. Ayes: Ecklund, Stone. Nays: <br />Warkentien. Motion carried.. <br /> Tennis Court Attorney Seed reviewed the contract for tennis courts to <br /> Contract be constructed on the Falcon Heights Elementary School prop- <br /> Reviewed: erty. He was requested to discuss modification of the word- <br /> ing of the pending contract with the school attorney. <br /> Letter from St. Warkentien read a letter from the St. Paul Association for <br /> Paul Association Retarded Children asking the Village for a representative <br /> for Retarded and a contribution from Falcon Heights. The matter was tab- <br /> Children, Tnc.: led at this time because the listing received did not show <br /> <br />Ramsey County at~y participants from Falcon Heights. <br />Ken Quarn, Village maintenance man, attended a weed control <br /> Weed Meeting: meeting on March 10, 1970, at the Agricultural Station, <br /> 2020 White Bear Avenue, St. Paul, Minnesota. The purpose <br /> of this meeting was to inform a1.1 present that weeds should <br /> be sprayed in the early spring to keep them under control <br />
