3001 MEETING OF AUGUST 13, 1970 The regular meeting of August 13, 1970 was called to order at 7:30 P.M. with the following members present: Mayor Warkentien, Clerk Taylor, Councilmen Black, Ecklund and Stone. Also present were Treasurer Olsen, Engineer Lemberg and Attorney Seed. Minutes: Ecklund moved that the minutes of the July 23, 1970 m et- ing be approved as corrected. Warkentien seconded and the motion carried. Letter From The Taylor read a letter written by Attorney Seed to C. Laverne University of Carlson, Director of Services, University of Minnesota, Minnesota Regarding confirming by Mr. Carlson's signature on the letter, the Falcon Heights agreement for Falcon Heights to install the backstop and Retaining Backstop: also for the Village to be able to remove and retain the backstop should the University elect to terminate use of the University Grove Grounds. Henry Dachtera Ecklund moved that the Village Council authorize Henry to Attend First Dachtera, Civil Def ense Director for the Village, to attend Aid and Rescue the following conferences: Minnesota Rescue and First Aid, Technique September 12 and l3 at Rochester, Minnesota; Professional Conferences: Rescue Instructors of T~ti.nnesota, September l8, 19 and 20 at Brainerd, Minnesota. The sum not to exceed $100 will be reimbursed to Mr. Dachtera by the Village Council. Stone seconded and the motion carried. Donald Johnston, At the request of the Council, Mr. Johnston, Union 76 Union 76 Station Station Manager, 1525 West Larpenteur Avenue, appeared at Manager: the meeting to discuss the tow trucks at his station that he had agreed to move last spring. Mr. Johnston said he is in the process of buying a lot to park his trucks on away from the Village and this should be completed in about 60 days. Variance Request Black moved that William J. Wizik, 1.77 West California Withdrawal, 1177 Avenue, be permitted to w ithdraw his request for a variance West California submitted in connection with plans to build a double garage Avenue: within two feet of his property line and that he be refunded the $5.00 fee he has submitted to the Village Clerk. Stone seconded and the motion carried. Mando Photo Company, Black moved that Mando PY~oto Company, 1790 West Larpenteur Building Addition: Avenue, be granted a building permit, for an addition 148 feet long and 30 feet wide, on the east side of the present building, said plan having been reviewed by the Village Engineer. Stone seconded and the motion carried. Purchase of 'Fires Black moved that the Village purchase four 8 ply Firestone for Maintenance tires for the Village maintenance truck, at the quoted Truck: price of $208.2? obtained by Engineer Lemberg. Warkentien seconded and the motion carried.
