3001 <br />MEETING OF AUGUST 13, 1970 <br />The regular meeting of August 13, 1970 was called to order at 7:30 P.M. with the <br />following members present: Mayor Warkentien, Clerk Taylor, Councilmen Black, Ecklund <br />and Stone. Also present were Treasurer Olsen, Engineer Lemberg and Attorney Seed. <br />Minutes: Ecklund moved that the minutes of the July 23, 1970 m et- <br />ing be approved as corrected. Warkentien seconded and the <br />motion carried. <br />Letter From The Taylor read a letter written by Attorney Seed to C. Laverne <br />University of Carlson, Director of Services, University of Minnesota, <br />Minnesota Regarding confirming by Mr. Carlson's signature on the letter, the <br />Falcon Heights agreement for Falcon Heights to install the backstop and <br />Retaining Backstop: also for the Village to be able to remove and retain the <br />backstop should the University elect to terminate use of <br />the University Grove Grounds. <br />Henry Dachtera Ecklund moved that the Village Council authorize Henry <br />to Attend First Dachtera, Civil Def ense Director for the Village, to attend <br />Aid and Rescue the following conferences: Minnesota Rescue and First Aid, <br />Technique September 12 and l3 at Rochester, Minnesota; Professional <br />Conferences: Rescue Instructors of T~ti.nnesota, September l8, 19 and 20 <br /> at Brainerd, Minnesota. The sum not to exceed $100 will be <br /> reimbursed to Mr. Dachtera by the Village Council. Stone <br /> seconded and the motion carried. <br />Donald Johnston, At the request of the Council, Mr. Johnston, Union 76 <br />Union 76 Station Station Manager, 1525 West Larpenteur Avenue, appeared at <br />Manager: the meeting to discuss the tow trucks at his station that <br /> he had agreed to move last spring. Mr. Johnston said he <br /> is in the process of buying a lot to park his trucks on <br /> away from the Village and this should be completed in <br /> about 60 days. <br />Variance Request Black moved that William J. Wizik, 1.77 West California <br />Withdrawal, 1177 Avenue, be permitted to w ithdraw his request for a variance <br />West California submitted in connection with plans to build a double garage <br />Avenue: within two feet of his property line and that he be refunded <br />the $5.00 fee he has submitted to the Village Clerk. Stone <br />seconded and the motion carried. <br />Mando Photo Company, Black moved that Mando PY~oto Company, 1790 West Larpenteur <br />Building Addition: Avenue, be granted a building permit, for an addition 148 <br />feet long and 30 feet wide, on the east side of the present <br />building, said plan having been reviewed by the Village <br />Engineer. Stone seconded and the motion carried. <br />Purchase of 'Fires Black moved that the Village purchase four 8 ply Firestone <br />for Maintenance tires for the Village maintenance truck, at the quoted <br />Truck: price of $208.2? obtained by Engineer Lemberg. Warkentien <br />seconded and the motion carried. <br />
